Michael D. McAnaw, 57, Former President Of Somers Chamber of Commerce

SOMERS, N.Y. - Michael D. McAnaw of Somers died Friday, May 9. He was 57.

McAnaw was born May 23, 1956, in Brooklyn, to Michael and Carol Ann (McHugh) McAnaw of Brooklyn. He graduated from Brooklyn College with a BA of science. He was a financial advisor for 20 years, first with the Bank of New York and then most recently with Edward Jones Investments in Somers.

McAnaw took part in many community organizations including past president of the Somers Chamber of Commerce and presently serving as president of the North Salem Chamber of Commerce. He was an honoree of the Somers Education Foundation and active with the Somers Library. He was a past board member of the Temple Beth Elohim in Brewster.

McAnaw  is survived by his parents; wife, Judi Rubin; children, Sarah and Emma McAnaw, both of Somers; sisters, Kathleen Feminella of Millburn, N.J., Colleen Russo of Brooklyn and Linda McAnaw McGuinness of Brooklyn; mother-in-law, Suzanne Rubin of New Bedford, Mass.;and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 14 at 11 a.m. at Temple Beth Elohim, 31 Mt. Ebo Road, N., Brewster. Interment following at King David Cemetery, Putnam Valley.

The family will be sitting Shiva Tuesday, May 14 in the afternoon following the funeral services and Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday May 16 from 2 to 8 p.m.

Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY will be assisting with the funeral arrangements.
