SOMERS/SOUTHOLD, N.Y. - James "Jim" Monica of Somers and Southold, formerly of Yonkers, died Sept. 14. He was 94.
Monica was born in Manhattan, in 1920, residing in Yonkers. He was in the insurance industry for over 55 years and worked for John Hancock for 35 years and continued with his own brokerage for another 20 years until retiring in 2004.
Monica is survived by his daughters, Linda (Al) Sparaco, Brookfield, Conn., Lorraine (Matt) Mozdziak, Yonkers; sons, Gaetano "Guy" Monica of Yorktown Heights, James (Geraldina) Monica, Millwood, Frank Monica, Yonkers; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Philomena.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, Katonah. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17 at St. Joseph RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, Hawthorne.
