He was born in New York City on May 16, 1944, the son of Charles and Anne Meehan Martin.
He earned a Master's in Business Administration and was a certified public accountant. He retired in 2009 as chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Matco-Norca in Brewster. He was the treasurer of the Heritage Hills Condo Association and served on the audit committee of the Heritage Hills Society.
He is survived by his wife, Louise, of Somers; his son, Brian, and his wife, Jessica, of Somers; his daughter, Kimberly Hallquest, and her husband, Ryan, of Mahopac; his stepson, Scott Gallagher, and his wife, Lori Borelli, and his stepdaughter, Susan Gallagher-Pecha, and her husband, Thomas, all of Merrick, Long Island; his brother, Patrick, and his wife, Elizabeth, and his sister, Regina, all of Mahopac; and his grandchildren, Rose and Hunter; and stepgrandchildren, Sean and Colin.
Visiting will be Sunday, Sept. 13, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Somers. Cremation was held privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
