Two Injured in School Bus Accident in Somers

SOMERS, N.Y. -- A Chappaqua School District school bus, en route to the Yorktown BOCES school, went off the road Wednesday morning at approximately 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Routes 35 and 100 in Somers. The bus rolled down an embankment and came to a rest against some trees.

Officer Molloy of the Somers State Police reported that the driver received lacerations to the head, hands and face. The monitor on board may have suffered a concussion, he said.

The only juvenile on board, a wheelchair-bound student, was uninjured.

The two people with injuries were taken to the Northern Westchester Hospital Center by the Somers Ambulance Corps, Molloy said. Also on hand were the Somers State Police, the Somers Fire Department and the Westchester Emergency Medical Service.

Traffic was held up along Route 35 until the accident was cleared. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
