Somers Rocks For Primrose Playground

SOMERS, N.Y. - In its ongoing drive to raise money for new playground equipment, the Primrose School playground committee held a concert on Sunday at the school. Entertainment was provided at no cost by the popular local group, Andrea and the Armenian Rug Riders. There was a bounce house for the kids, donated by LEAPin Little Ones, and an extensive auction.

Some of the items in the auction were tennis lessons, hockey tickets, lunch and golf at the Trump National Gold Club, and teeth-whitening from North Salem Dental Care.

A different sort of prize was offered at the 50/50 station. People bought chances. The bottom line came to $520. The winner won $260 but donated it back to the fund. Overall, $6,000 was raised for the playground.

Shawn Carlson, at the event with his six-year-old son, Michael, bid silently on a few different items and ended up paying $120 for a Learning Express Tower of Toys.

“By the time the new playground is finished, Michael will probably be out of Primrose School,” said his dad, “but it’s great to be able to help the kids who are coming in.”
