"Phil is good on the issues, he has the right experience and he is very personable. He has a great chance to win the seat this November, and I look forward to helping him do so," said Odell.

Oliva, who faces several primary opponents in June, is running for the seat currently held by Democrat and Cold Springs resident Sean Patrick Maloney, who is running for re-election.

"I'm proud to enthusiastically support Phil's campaign because he is grounded and principled. Washington won't change Phil. We can count on Phil to change Washington," said Astorino.

A top adviser for Astorino, Olivia is also the president of Gipper Communications, LLC, a New York-based consulting firm. During Astorino's 2014 race for governor, Oliva co-authored an economic plan that was called "A Plan for New York Revival" by the Wall Street Journal, adding that it would "lift the state's flagging economy" if enacted.

The father of three has more than 20 years' experience in the public and private sectors, working in the health care industry and at various levels of government, including time as a speechwriter for former New York Gov. George Pataki.

Oliva earned a master's degree in business from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor of arts degree from Siena College, where he also played Division I baseball and Division I-AA football.

The 18th Congressional District covers part of northern Wetchester County, all of Putnam County, and the southern part of Dutchess County.
