All three people were rushed to St. Luke's Hosptal in Cornell, with one person pronounced dead at arrival, state police said. The person's identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin, police said.
The crash, on the westbound side, occurred around 1:15 p.m. at Exit 13 (Route 9), with delays of as long as two hours being reported back to Exit 16 (Taconic Parkway) during the hours following the accident.
The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact the State Police by calling (845) 677-7300.
