At Lasdon Park in Somers, horticulturalist Caroline Fanelli helped six women make Thanksgiving centerpieces to help add to their Thanksgiving table.

"This is a big project," Fanelli, a Katonah resident, said. "I'd like everyone's artwork to be their own and to reflect their personality and character."

Fanelli guided the group as they cut the pumpkins and provided the flowers to use in the centerpiece. Fanelli said she has been crafting for a long time and teaches different classes every two weeks.

She said she enjoys teaching from young to old and seeing the work done by her students.

Ritamarie Caiati, a Heritage Hills resident, is a student of Fanelli, coming to her classes for years. Caiati was in a wreath-making class that Fanelli taught in the morning.

"I love crafts and gardening," Caiati said. "Lasdon Park is a gift to the community."

Nancy Hodden, a Somers resident, said she was making a centerpiece for Thanksgiving at her son's house.

"I love to do floral arrangements," Hodden said. "It's very exciting."

Nancy Noto, a Yorktown resident, said she enjoys  holiday crafts and making holiday decorations at her church.

"I love to make centerpieces," Noto said. "I make wreaths, angels and Christmas balls. I'm always going to these classes."

Noto said she would bring the centerpiece to her daughter's house.

Jan Marino, a Yorktown resident, was making a centerpiece to bring to her son's place in SoHo. She said she was brought to the class by Noto.

"I enjoy doing these things with her," Marino said. "It's great fun. This is the best time of year. There's a lot to be thankful for."
