Veterans Wall of Fame Unveiled in Somers

SOMERS, N.Y. – State Sen. Greg Ball’s Veterans Wall of Fame has gone into traveling mode. A foldable wall has been created to display write-ups of the men and women of the 40th Senate District who have been named to the list of outstanding American veterans.

The Wall of Fame was unveiled Tuesday at Somers High School, where it will remain until April 20. Town Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy was on hand, along with Town Board members, school officials, students and veterans.

Somers High senior Kevin Burzasi, who is to take up Army service in September, led the ceremony with the Pledge of Allegiance. In a brief speech he paid homage to the veterans for their “great acts and sacrifices as well as some amazing achievements.”

Murphy paid tribute to Somers’ own veteran of honor, octogenarian Stephen Moravick, and added, “I encourage all of our residents to stop by and see it.”
