During an interview earlier this year, author Mike DeLucia told the Daily Voice that the book he began in 2014 wasn’t written about the Yankees specifically.
"(The book) is about how much they (Yankees/Major League Baseball) rip us off," DeLucia said, adding that a Yankees' empire was built on the backs of loyal fans. "Without us, they crumble."
DeLucia noted that the Yankees enjoy the benefit of having the second highest average ticket price in baseball while playing in a brand new stadium subsidized by $1.2 billion in taxpayer money.
The Bronx native, who grew up a devout Yankees fan, but hasn’t been to a game in more than five years, said he hopes his work can rally the public to push the team to lower its prices.
“America’s Newsroom,” is a national television news program hosted by Martha MacCallum and Bill Hemmer. DeLucia said was expected to appear about 10:50 a.m. Friday.
