May Mattik and Matty Dreisbach of PickleLicious said that they had a lot of visitors as they sold nine different pickle varieties, as well as olives and hummus, from the vendor based out of Teaneck, N.J.
"It's been really busy. This morning there was a big line. We've been working hard," Mattik said.
"This place is one of our busiest markets," Dreisbach said.
The company has a storefront in Teaneck and also sells at about 45 farmers markets in New Jersey, News York and Pennsylvania. He said the farmers markets help build brand recognition. "It makes people more aware of our company, and helps drive online sales. If people live closer to us, they're more likely to come to the store."
"Today has been wild and fun," said Pam Plummer of Platte Clove Naturals, a nut-based granola company from Saugerties. She said that there was a large crowd following the 5-mile race held Sunday morning to mark the end of the season.
This year's farmers market season has been a good one, Plummer said. She works a few farmers markets, as does Platte Clove Naturals' owner, Gala West. "It gets our products in the public view and helps spread word of mouth."
"We sold a lot of produce this morning," said Gabby Ibacache, a seller for Newgate Farms in Windsor, Conn.
She said that she enjoys working at the farmers markets.
"You get an immediate satisfaction from selling something that people need," Ibacache said. "The produce is healthy and it gives people energy. Selling food is fun."
The Muscoot Farms Farmers Market will return on Mother's Day and will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until the end of this month.
