Rabbi Eytan Hammerman of Mahopacs Temple Beth Shalom explains it is traditional to eat honey and sweet foods at Rosh Hashanah. In connection with this, Michael Bruen of Southeasts White Oak Apiary visited the synagogue Wednesday to talk about honey-making and distribute samples of the various types produced by the bees of Southeast.
Rosh Hashanah services at the Reconstructionist Hebrew Congregation begin at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by services at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. (for children) Monday and Tuesday. The address is Cypress Lane and Lakeview Drive in Shenorock.
Rosh Hashanah services at Temple Beth Shalom are from 6-6:45 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. The temple is at 760 Route 6, Mahopac.
