Professionals from around the region converged on Saw Mill Club where they spent the day trying to pass the USPTA national exam. According to the USPTA, professionals must be at least 18 years old, pass the on-court and written portions of the exam, and complete Stage 1 and 2 of Coach Youth Tennis. On site, USPTA Professional’s jobs range from assistant pro to head tennis professional, and those certified are required to earn 6 credits every three years to maintain their membership.
USPTA is the nation’s oldest professional registry and headquartered in Houston. Saw Mill Club is one of the few clubs in the country to require this professional certification and status in order to serve on the tennis staff. Additionally, all 21 tennis professionals at Saw Mill Club are USPTA certified.
