Wallethub, a website calling itself "The Web's Best Personal Finance Resource," ranked the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, ranking each on a scale of 24 key metrics.
White New York ranks 44th overall, it actually ranks worse (48th) when specifically dealing with affordability. The state does, however, rank as the number 2 state for quality of life and 27th for best healthcare, according to Wallethub.
The top five states listed as best places to retire include:

- 2.) Wyoming
- 3.) South Dakota
- 4.) South Carolina
- 5.) Colorado
- 51.) Rhode Island
- 50.) Washington, D.C.
- 49.) Hawaii
- 48.) Connecticut
- 47.) Vermont
