Somers Library Teams Compete In Inaugural Battle Of The Books

SOMERS, N.Y. -- Somers Library sent two teams to the inaugural Westchester Battle of the Books held recently at Scarsdale Middle School.

The Lightning Books (sixth- through ninth-graders) and Lightning Books Jr (fourth- through sixth-graders) prepared for the event by reading five books per team.

The teams from Somers went up against other Westchester teams to quickly answer detailed questions in a quiz show set-up.

The Lightning Books went through the third round, and the Lightning Books Jr. held out to the fourth round.

“I had a great time doing this," said sixth-grader Matthew Kushner. "It was fun having a competition with books I enjoyed. I am definitely joining next year.”
