SOMERS, N.Y. Its a bird, its a plane, its a flower-show.
Somers Lasdon Park and Arboretum is devoting the entire weekend to the world of animals, as depicted horticulturally.
Participating in Its a Zoo are members of roughly 30 Federated Garden Clubs from the Bronx, Westchester and Putnam counties. Educational exhibits will feature the worlds of cacti and tropical plants. There even is a youth design division, where youngsters will display their skills with aquarium plants, terrariums and arid environments.
Its a Zoo begins Friday afternoon, after the judges have inspected the exhibits and doled out awards. It is open to the public at no charge, from 2-3:30 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Lasdon Park and Arboretum, owned by the Westchester County Parks System, is a 234-acre expanse that includes formal gardens, a garden shop, walking paths and a Veterans Memorial and museum in honor of Westchester veterans. It is off Route 35 in Somers.
