"There is no impact to headcount as a result of the move," the statement says.
The statement was provided by Aurora Gonzalez, a spokeswoman with the beverage and snacks conglomerate.
PepsiCo's statement also acknowledges and explains why the company will be leaving its Somers facility.
"The exit from Somers was not an easy decision as we have a history at this location," the statement reads. "The decision to relocate allows us to achieve operating cost savings and further enhance internal collaboration."
Word of PepsiCo's impending departure from the Somers campus was first announced Monday in a press release issued by the Town of Somers. It noted that the move is planned to be finished by the first quarter of 2016.
PepsiCo plans to relocate its Somers workforce to locations in Purchase and White Plains.
News of the company's exit comes less than four years after it agreed to a deal to stay in Somers, although the time period coverage under the arrangement was only for a minimum of five years. That deal included a $4 million grant from Empire State Development, a state entity, which was to be used or investment into the campus.
PepsiCo is one of two major businesses that has a Somers location. IBM, which is the other, has a campus near by.
The campus is located at 1 Pepsi Way, has 540,000 square feet of office space and has been connected to Pepsi in various forms since 1985, according to company records.
