A Tornado Watch is in effect for Westchester, Putnam, Rockland and Dutchess counties, along with much of the tristate area.
The watch, which went into effect at 1:30 p.m. Friday, lasts until 10 p.m. Friday.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Friday, mainly after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, which warns storms could be severe with heavy rainfall, gusty winds and hail possible.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely through 2 a.m. Saturday, followed by a slight chance of showers.
The first day of the long week, Saturday, will be sunny with a high in the lowers 80s.
