The warning, which went into effect at 6:27 p.m. Sunday, lasts until 7:15 p.m. Sunday.
Radar shows the storms were east from New Jersey through Haverstraw into Westchester, the service said.
Torrential rains and flash flooding are associated with the storm, the service said.
Showers and a possible thunderstorm, mainly before midnight, will be followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight into Monday morning, with a slight chance of showers continuing through noon Monday.
The rest of the day Monday will be mostly sunny with a high around 80.
