A Flash Flood Watch was issued at 5 a.m. and is in effect until 11 p.m. Sunday for Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties.
The watch means conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding and residents should monitor updates later in the day and be prepared to take action should the watch become a warning, according to the National Weather Service.
Showers developing over the area Sunday morning could produce heavy rain with some thunderstorms. The potential for additional showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon could lead to flash flooding, the weather service said.
Rain could come at any time during the day, with the chance of precipitation 90 percent. The temperature will hold steady in the mid 70s.
The likelihood for storms continues through 9 p.m. Sunday, followed by a chance of showers and storms.
There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday with heavy rain possible at times. The high temperature will be in the upper 70s.
