Man Charged With Leaving Dog In Hot Car In Westchester, Police Say A dog was left alone panting in a heated car, without water, in Yorktown prompting police intervention to help rescue him. An Animal Control officer and member of the Yorktown Police Department were dispatched to Crompond Road at approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, where there was a report of an unattended dog that had been left in a car. Upon arrival, police said that the officers found a small brown and white dog inside a parked, unattended vehicle in an area parking lot.
