School Bus Safety: City In Westchester To Deploy Massive Stop-Arm Enforcement Program
A city in Westchester will soon be launching the largest school bus safety program in the county in an effort to catch drivers who illegally pass the stopped vehicles. The city of Yonkers will be partnering with Verra Mobility to implement technology on its school district's fleet of buses that will help catch drivers who illegally pass them, Mayor Mike Spano announced on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Four-Alarm Fire Breaks Out At Apartment Building In Westchester
A four-alarm fire broke out in the top floors of a Westchester apartment complex. First responders in Yonkers responded to the area of 24 Caryl Avenue on Monday, March 14, when there was a reported blaze in the seven-story building. Smoke could be seen billowing from the upper-story windows as multiple fire crews responded to the building with several aerial ladder trucks to douse the flames. Hundreds of students in one of New York's largest school districts will have to seek alternate routes to make their way to the first day of classes due to a bus driver shortage. Westchester’s largest city will be following the state’s lead in mandating all municipal workers and school employees take the COVID-19 vaccine or else face repeated testing for the virus. An employee at a Westchester school was forced to take inappropriate photos of her principal posing in her underwear at schools, according to new reports following the filing of a new federal lawsuit. Gisselle Vasquez, age 35, was reportedly hired as a Spanish-speaking secretary for Principal Evelina Medina at the Robert C. Several educators at a school district in Westchester have tested positive for COVID-19, but the district remains on track to transition to its hybrid learning model next month. The 12-year-old boy who accidentally shot himself in the head with an illegal handgun in Westchester has died from his wound, police said.
