The fourth member of a Westchester street gang has been sentenced for his role in the fatal shooting of a promising teenage basketball standout. Sincere Savoy, age 25, a member of the Mount Vernon Goonies street gang, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for his participation in the 2016 murder of Shamoya McKenzie on New Year’s Eve in 2016 in Westchester. New York Liberty Will No Longer Play Home Games At Westchester County Center
The New York Liberty will be taking its talents out of the Westchester and into Brooklyn. The team announced that beginning with the 2020 WNBA season, the Liberty will no longer call the Westchester County Center in White Plains home, and will play their home games at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Barely more than a year removed from the fatal shooting of Shamoya McKenzie, her family suffered another devastating loss. A weekend fire at a multi-family home on Vernon Avenue left 12 Mount Vernon residents displaced, including Nadine McKenzie, the mother of Shamoya, who was shot and killed on New Year’s Eve last year in broad daylight.
