HS Senior From Westchester Ranked Top Cellist In New York State: 'Incredibly Proud'
A high school senior from Northern Westchester has earned state-wide recognition for her musical chops. Cameron Bly, a senior at Fox Lane High School in Bedford, won the principal cellist seat at the All-State Orchestra Winter Conference held in Rochester by the New York State School Music Association, Bedford Central School District officials announced on Wednesday, Dec. 6. This win officially names Bly as the top-ranking cellist in the state of New York, according to the district. "We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment!" district officials said.

2 Westchester HS Seniors Awarded $2.5K Each From National Program
Two hard-working high school seniors from Northern Westchester have been awarded $2,500 scholarships each as recognition for their impressive academic achievements. Armonk residents Remi Matza and Kelsey Vaquero, both seniors at Byram Hills High School, were awarded the funds after being chosen as finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, school district officials announced on Thursday, May 25. 27 From Westchester Named Regeneron Science Scholars
A total of 31 of the Hudson Valley's best and brightest high school seniors were among 300 chosen to compete with some of the nation’s top students in the Regeneron Science Talent Search competition. The 300 scholars were chosen out of 1,760 applications that were received from 611 high schools across 49 states. The 300 hail from 193 American and international high schools, Puerto Rico, and two other countries. Of the scholars, 27 came out of Westchester, with three in Putnam, and one in Dutchess. Westchester Student Earns National Attention In World Languages
New Canaan Country School students made a strong showing in the recent 2018 National World Languages exams. In Spanish, of the 34,600 students who sat for the exam nationwide, four Gold medals - the highest possible prize – were awarded to New Canaan Country School students, placing eighth grader Ellie Hanson in the top 4 percent, and ninth graders Shane Carbin of Norwalk, Georgia Rivero of New Canaan and Hannah Nightingale of Rowayton in the top 1 percent of the United States.
