Online Threat Under Investigation At School District In Hudson Valley
Two Hudson Valley schools will be open on Friday, Sept. 16, despite an online threat. The threat originated in Orange County circulating among students via Apple Airdrop at Middletown High School, said Amy Creeden, superintendent of the district of Middletown. The district has canceled a planned pep rally and increased police presence outside the building and around the campus of the high school and Twin Towers Middle School. A middle school student has been charged with making a terroristic threat after threatening to shoot up his school in New York while making a reference to the recent Uvalde, Texas massacre. The incident took place in Suffolk County at Westhampton Beach Middle School on Thursday, June 2. Threat Leads To Lockdown At Schools In Hudson Valley After Student 'Jokes' About Having Gun
A junior high school and an elementary school were placed in lockdown in the Hudson Valley after a student "joked" about having a gun. The incident took place in Ulster County around 10:40 a.m., Thursday, May 26. Police responded to Ellenville Junior High school after the 13-year-old student alleged to have a gun as he was talking to another teen, said Chief Philip Mattracion, of the Ellenville Police. A threat described by district officials as being "specific" has prompted a school district in Westchester to switch to remote learning on Friday, Dec. 17. "This morning, we learned about a specific threat made on Snapchat against the high school," Pelham Public Schools Acting Superintendent of Schools Dennis R. Threat Of Gun Violence Under Investigation At Two Hudson Valley Schools
A social media threat is making the rounds through several Hudson Valley school districts, authorities announced. In Orange County, threats of gun violence at unspecified schools in the Cornwall and Monroe-Woodbury districts have been reported, though they were ultimately deemed not credible. Police said that all threats have been investigated by area police and were ultimately determined to be a hoax. In response to the threats, police beefed up security at both districts and put extra security measures in place as a precaution.

Woman Accused Of Making Terror Threats Against High School In Westchester
A woman has been arrested for allegedly making terroristic threats against an area school. Northern Westchester resident Diane Harris-Hines, age 54, of Peekskill, was arrested by Yorktown Police on Friday, April 23, after allegedly making a threatening phone call to the main office of Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, said the Yorktown Police. A Northern Westchester school district entered its lockout protocols after a threat was made to the high school. Ossining Schools Superintendent Raymond Sanchez issued a notice to the community on Tuesday, Nov. 17, warning that the district received an outside threat against the Ossining High School that is actively being investigated by the police department. Daily School Threats Multiply In Hudson Valley, Nationwide Since Shooting
In the weeks since he Feb. 14 mass shooting in Parkland, Fla., there have been more than 72 threats every day at schools nationwide, according to an Ohio educational group.That is more than seven times the normal daily average, which includes bomb threats and false fire alarms. Since the massacre in Parkland, nearly 700 threats or violent incidents have been reported at almost 500 schools across the U.S., according to findings from the Educator’s School Safety Network.
