A Westchester community is on high alert after a porch pirate was caught on camera following a delivery truck and stealing freshly delivered packages during the holiday season. Police investigators in Mount Vernon are investigating a suspicious man who was captured on a doorbell camera walking up to a city home and stealing packages as soon as they were delivered on North Fulton Avenue. Police investigators have released new information as they attempt to track down a pair of porch pirates who were caught on camera stalking a delivery truck and taking off with freshly delivered packages. Investigators at the Scarsdale Police Department received a report at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Friday, March 1, of a package theft that had just taken place, Det. Lt. Edward Murphy said. Porch Pirate Busted Stealing Package In Greenburgh, Police Say
A porch pirate was arrested in Westchester after getting busted stealing packages from a local home, police said. Bronx resident Jean Tapia, 33, has been arrested after allegedly stealing a package from a home in the Edgemont neighborhood, Greenburgh Police Sgt. Brian Matthews announced on Wednesday. Tapia was arrested this week and charged with one count of petit larceny. He has been booked at Greenburgh Police Headquarters and has since been released on bail. Although the holiday season has passed, police in Eastchester are investigating a brazen “porch pirate” who stole a package in broad daylight. Police officials confirmed that they are investigating a man who took a package valued at over $100 last week from a Park Drive porch, which was captured on surveillance video at the home, which was released by News12 on Tuesday.
