The debate stage is finally set between New York’s two gubernatorial candidates, Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin and current Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, though quarreling over the debates themselves drags on. On Wednesday, Sept. 21, Hochul’s campaign committed to a single, one-hour televised debate between Zeldin, which will take place Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at Pace University in Manhattan. 'Never Been In Question': NY Gov. Kathy Hochul Says She Will Debate Lee Zeldin
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has committed to a public debate with her Republican gubernatorial opponent, Lee Zeldin, putting to rest accusations by the Congressman that Hochul was too “scared” to do so. Speaking at a press briefing Monday morning, Sept. 19, Hochul, a Democrat, was asked by a reporter whether she would debate Zeldin ahead of the general election. “I’ve said all along I will,” she responded. “I said that the first time I was asked months ago.
