Migrants Arrive In Westchester: 'We're Going To Treat Them Right,' Mayor Says
As over a dozen migrant families make a new home at a hotel in Westchester, city officials are calling on New York Gov. Kathy Hochul to come up with a plan to provide the funds needed to give them the proper care and services they require. The 38 asylum seekers, 14 families in total, arrived in Yonkers on Monday night, May 15 at the Ramada Inn at 125 Tuckahoe Rd., according to Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano. Second Hudson Valley County Declares State Of Emergency Against Possible Migrant Influx
Anticipating at least 70 asylum seekers being sent to a hotel in their area, another Hudson Valley government has declared a State of Emergency. Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus declared a State of Emergency for the county late on Monday, May 8, in response to New York City’s proposed plan to send asylum seekers to be temporarily housed at motels in the town of Newburgh.
