Suspect On Loose After 20-Year-Old Shot Near Health Center In Westchester
Authorities are searching for a suspect who shot a 20-year-old in Westchester, causing him to be hospitalized, police said. The incident happened on Thursday, March 23 around 6:15 p.m., when police in Mount Vernon responded to the area of 107 West 4th St. for a reported shooting, where the Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center is located. Once arriving at the scene, officers found 20-year-old Mount Vernon resident Jaheim Vassel with a gunshot wound to his leg. A pop-up COVID-19 clinic has been scheduled in one of Westchester’s largest communities. #VaxUpWestchester announced that it is teaming up with the Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center and RXR Realty to provide COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters for all eligible residents in the region. The number of COVID-19 vaccines being allocated to Westchester continues to increase as the county looks to innoculate nearly 10,000 people during the 12th week of the state's vaccination program. A mayor in one of Westchester’s largest cities is calling for better performance from Montefiore after it was made public that it had the lowest vaccination rate in the state of New York. This week, New York Gov. A new walk-through testing facility for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is coming to Westchester. A new COVID-19 testing center is being set up at the Mount Vernon Neighborhood Health Center, on 4th Street which will open up on Friday, April 17.
