In the wake of dozens of successful walkouts by students in Westchester last week to call on Congress for tighter gun control laws, students are now organizing a countywide “March for Our Lives” movement. Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas hosted a "Rally for Reform" event at City Hall over the weekend in an effort to urge national lawmakers to address gun violence "in a serious and effective way." Westchester Students Join Fight Against Gun Violence
Local students are getting involved in the national student-run movement to end gun violence. A national walkout and march, organized by survivors of the rampage last week at a school in Florida, have now been scheduled for next month. There will be a national school walkout day to protest gun violence on Wednesday, March 14.
