A former financial advisor from the Hudson Valley will spend years in prison for his role in a scheme to steal from a retirement fund sponsored by a labor union for law enforcement employees. Employees at an Amazon fulfillment center in upstate New York voted overwhelmingly against unionizing Tuesday, Oct. 18. Labor Union President From Area Demanded, Accepted Bribes, Feds Say
A Fairfield County resident who serves as the president of the local International Longshoremen’s Association has been charged by federal prosecutors with demanding and accepting bribes. Glenn Blicht, 57, of Wilton, was arrested Friday, July 26 for honest services fraud and a violation of the Taft-Hartley Act for demanding and accepting at least $150,000 in bribe payments from an employer. Legislation to protect the more than 1,100 jobs at the Indian Point nuclear power plants when they are permanently shut down is closer to law. State Sen.
