A vigil is planned to honor a much-loved Westchester community leader who was killed by a hit-and-driver. Stephanie Kavourias, age 65, of the hamlet of Hartsdale, was struck by a driver allegedly high on drugs or alcohol around 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 in the area of 177 Hartsdale Ave., in Hartsdale. The owner and employee at smoke shops in Westchester are facing charges after being busted by investigators selling to minors during an undercover investigation, police announced. On Thursday, Nov. 11, members of the Greenburgh Drug and Alcohol Task Force and Street Crime Unit launched an investigation into the underage sale of tobacco and concentrated cannabis to underage shoppers at Hartsdale Tobacco on East Hartsdale Avenue. A man and a teen armed with a knife and a gun were arrested after allegedly stealing merchandise from a Westchester Rite Aid. Elijah McLendon, age 21, and Elijah Walls, age 19, both of the Bronx, were arrested around 5 p.m., Sunday, May 23, after Greenburgh Police were called to the drug store on East Hartsdale Avenue, in Hartsdale. Nearly 7,000 new allocations of the COVID-19 vaccine are set to be distributed to locations throughout Westchester during the sixth week of the state’s vaccination program. On Wednesday, Dec. 18, and Thursday, Dec. 19, motorists have experienced “excessive” traffic delays along West Hartsdale Avenue during the morning commute, Greenburgh Police Chief Joseph Ryan said. Woman Critically Injured After Being Hit By Vehicle In Hartsdale
A woman was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle while walking across a busy roadway in Westchester. It happened at approximately 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 in Hartsdale. The 71-year-old woman was struck as she was walking across East Hartsdale Avenue in the vicinity of 50 East Hartsdale Avenue, Greenburgh Police said. Officers who were called to the scene observed the victim lying injured in the roadway of the eastbound lane of East Hartsdale Avenue.
