2 Injured, Utility Pole Snapped In Head-On Crash In Westchester A head-on collision in Northern Westchester caused two people to be hospitalized and left smoking live wires and a snapped pole in its wake.  The incident happened on Sunday, Oct. 8 around 5 p.m., when first responders received a report of a collision in Croton Falls at the intersection of June Road and Grant Road. According to the Croton Falls Fire Department, arriving crews found a head-on crash in addition to a snapped utility pole and smoking live wires. First responders then shut down traffic and assessed those involved for injuries before taking two patients to nearby hospitals. …

Car Bursts Into Flames, Causes Temporary Road Closure In Westchester Part of a busy route in Northern Westchester was briefly closed after a vehicle went up in flames. The incident happened on Saturday, Sept. 30 around 4:45 p.m., when crews in Somers responded to Route 139 for a reported motor vehicle fire. According to the Somers Volunteer Fire Department, arriving crews quickly arrived at the scene of the blaze and doused the flames with water within seconds, quickly extinguishing it. Multi-Vehicle Crash Causes Injuries In Westchester A multi-vehicle accident caused injuries in Northern Westchester and heavy damage to two vehicles.  The accident happened on Sunday, Jan. 15 around 9 p.m. in Croton Falls on Stoneleigh Avenue near the Putnam County line, according to the Croton Falls Fire Department.  The drivers of the vehicles were injured and their vehicles were damaged, with one car losing a wheel and another nearly slamming into a fence after leaving the road.  Eventually, the vehicles were towed away and the scene was cleared within a half hour, firefighters said.

Longtime Highway Supervisor, Business Owner In Westchester Dies Lifelong Northern Westchester County resident and longtime highway supervisor Drew Allan Outhouse died on Sunday, July 11, at the age of 73. Outhouse lived in North Salem and was a graduate of North Salem High School, according to his obituary. The fire, which spread to the first and second floor, left the homeowner, Nancy Haggerty, a lifetime Somers resident, without any belongings and missing her four cats.
