SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Scarsdale High School's hot start on the ice has caught the attention of the New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSWA), which has placed the Raiders atop the latest boy’s varsity Division I ice hockey rankings.
The defending Section 1 champions’ record remains a perfect 7-0, after a 10-1 shellacking of Fordham Prep on Dec. 18. The Raiders will look to continue their undefeated streak when they return from break and hit the ice at home against Mamaroneck on Monday, Jan. 5.
Led by senior captains James Nicholas and Devon Schell, who have combined for 25 goals and 53 points, and Gabe Harousseau’s three shutouts in net, the Raiders are looking toward their most experienced players to lead them to another deep state playoff run.
Scarsdale wasn’t the only Westchester County hockey team to be celebrated by the sportswriters. In Division II, Pelham (5-0) is ranked fifth, while Mamaroneck (3-1-1) is slotted in the eighth position.
