School Board Accepts Gifts From Community

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – The Scarsdale Public Schools Board of Education was in a receptive mood Tuesday, Oct. 11, at its bimonthly business meeting, as it accepted five gifts totaling nearly $10,000 for a variety of uses.

Gifts included:

? $5,139.39 to purchase softball equipment for Scarsdale High School's athletic program, given by Scarsdale Youth Softball Association.

? $1,679 for a stationary exercise bike for the gym and intramural program, and $1,429 for a PolyPong table for the gym, intramurals and recreation nights. Both gifts were donated by the Middle School Parent Teacher Association.

? $1,000 for the high school special education department from Peter S. Hearst of South Kent.

? $750 to the district for a tree or trees for the courtyard at Fox Meadow School, given by Girl Scout Troop 1596.

Also, the following items were unanimously approved by board members:

? Appointment of Peter Gisolfi Associations as architectural consultants for the District for 2011-12 on a percentage fee basis.

? Appointment of O'Dea Lynch Abbattista, Consulting Engineers, for 2011-12 on an hourly fee schedule as needed.

? Adoption of the resolution presented approving terms and conditions of employment for four administrative staff members and five confidential secretaries.
