SCARSDALE, N.Y. The Hoff-Barthelson Music School in Scarsdale is hosting auditions for its Adult Festival Chorus in September.
Auditions are scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Music School. Singers are welcome for all choral sections. The ensemble rehearses from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays at the Scarsdale Womens Club.
During the audition, singers will first be asked to perform one aria or choral piece of their choosing that is no longer than two minutes. They then will be asked to sing a part of Brahms "Zigeunerlieder against the accompaniment. They will also be asked to sight-read a vocal line from a Bach chorale.
The Festival Chorus performs three times during the year - at the schools December Holiday Music Festival, the mid-winter Baroque and Beyond or Classics in Concert Festival, and the Music of Our Time Festival.
