If the presidential election were today and these were the two candidates, who would you vote for?
- Hillary Clinton
- Donald Trump
- I wouldn't vote
- I'd place a write-in vote for another candidate
- I'd vote for a third-party candidate
The new poll shows Clinton, who has lived in Chappaqua since 1999, leading Trump 49 percent to 37 percent among likely voters, with 55 percent saying they would not vote for Trump, said Bloomberg Politics.
The poll also showed that 55 percent of likely voters polled said they were very bothered by comments regarding a judge's Mexican heritage made by the real estate developer in connection a fraud case against Trump University, added Bloomberg Politics.
On the flip side, likely voters said they would have more confidence in Trump, who narrowly edges out Clinton, 45 percent to 41 percent, if a Florida-type attack took place a year from now. And, 50 percent to 45 percent, viewed Trump as stronger in combating terrorist threats, according to Bloomberg Politics.
The poll is the first major survey since the mass shooting and Clinton secured enough votes to be considered the presumptive Democratic nominee.
The Bloomberg poll, which interviewed 1,000 adults, including 750 who said they were likely to vote in the general election, interviewed another 150 people following the Orlando attack, asking them questions related to the attack.
While the shooting didn’t alter the poll’s findings in the presidential race, the incident did alter the trends on other topics, including the number of American's saying the nation is on the right track, which dropped from 19 percent from 27 percent. The numbers also changed in relation to whether there should be a ban on the sale of semiautomatic or automatic rifles, with 50 percent saying no and 48 percent saying yes.
Trump, who owns an estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor. The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
