Paulin was an instrumental figure in helping school districts secure additional funding as the State Assembly passed Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposed budget.
“I am thrilled we were able to accomplish much of what I wanted to see accomplished in terms of a balanced budget,” she said. “There were some very good things that came out of this budget and that’s what I emphasize. I was able to secure state aid for the schools in my district.”
The budget will preserve the money that schools in the 88th District will receive for building aid and capital expenses. Under the original proposal, the districts would have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars, but Paulin and her colleagues were able to recover the funds.
In White Plains, schools will be getting an Assembly grant of $250,000, while Bronxville will receive $40,000.
“On balance, all of my school districts did very well,” she said. “We were also able to secure an increase in funds for community colleges. They fill an educational gap that is critical and I feel very happy about that.”
