Hartsdale Man Hacks Into Account, Posts Inappropriate Photo, Police Say

A 65-year-old Westchester man is behind bars after state police say he hacked into a victim’s online account and posted an inappropriate photo without the victim’s permission.

John F. Mahoney of Hartsdale was charged with computer tampering (a Class E felony), computer trespass (also a Class E felony), and aggravated harassment, a Class A misdemeanor. The arrest is the result of an 11-month investigation, police said.

The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office High Technology Crime Unit assisted in the case.

Mahoney was arraigned in the Town of Greenburgh Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail on a $,5000 bond.

Mahoney is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday, July 16.
