SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A Scarsdale family was the victim of a burglary over the weekend that saw a suspect make off with more than $10,000 worth of jewelry after breaking in.

According to police, officers responded to a burglary alarm on Drake Road, where they observed that a rear glass patio door had been broken, and the master bedroom of the residence was ransacked.

The bedroom appeared to be the only room that was missing any items, police said. There were no pry marks on the rear door, the suspect entered by breaking a glass window to ascertain access.

Among the items that were stolen was a pearl necklace with gold and diamonds valued at $8,000, a pair of gold and amber earrings, blue sapphire earrings, a gold ring and other pieces totaled at more than $3,000. A safe located in the closet appeared to be untouched, according to the report.
