On Wednesday, Dec. 28, police were dispatched to Harvest Drive after a key holder had come to check on the residence and found the basement door ajar with the deadbolt and door jam both broken.
According to police, “it appears that the door was breached via blunt force, possibly a shoulder push-in.” The steel exterior of the door was bent and the inner wood core was cracked and splintered. The deadbolt was bent and partially removed from the core of the frame, which was also severely damaged.
During their investigation, police determined that multiple bedrooms were entered and “lightly tossed.” According to the key holder, who assisted with the investigation, the homeowner had moved into the home approximately a month earlier, and didn’t have many belongings. In their police report, officers stated that “there was minimal furniture in the rooms and very little personal belongings in the drawers.”
Two days after the investigation, the homeowner contacted police to alert them that “there were no items of value in the home.”
