Martin Stenzler, 74, Formerly Of Scarsdale

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Martin Lester Stenzler, a former Scarsdale and Bedford resident, died Aug. 10 in Palm Desert, Calif., of Lou Gehrig's disease. He was 74.

Stenzler graduated from Bronxville High School in 1955 and Alfred University in 1959. He worked as a New York-based executive for 40 years and served on the board of trustees at Alfred University from 1981 to 1982. He served in the Navy from 1959 to 1961.

He retired to Indian Wells, Calif., and loved the New York Mets and a good party. Known endearingly to his family as "a cross between Jackie Mason, Redd Foxx and Homer Simpson," Stenzler was said to make colorful use of the English language.

Stenzler was predeceased by his parents, Lillian and Irving Stenzler. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Zacker Stenzler; two children, Abby Mallis and Jonathan (Celeen) Stenzler; a sister, Carolyn (Richard) Glickstein; and three granddaughters.

A private funeral service will be held Wednesday. Shiva will follow at the Glickstein home in Scarsdale.
