WRT In Scarsdale Welcomes New Assistant Rabbi

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – The Westchester Reform Temple (WRT) in Scarsdale recently welcomed a new assistant rabbi to its clergy team.

On Oct. 5, Rabbi David E. Levy was formally introduced in his new position. Levy was recently ordained by Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in New York City.

Levy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in information systems from Drexel University, but while pursuing his undergraduate education, discovered his true passion was working with people who shared his faith.

After completing his degree, he served as a Jewish Campus Service Corps Fellow as part of a program at the University of Connecticut, before beginning studies at the HUC-JIR in 2006. Levy attended the university for an extra year, earning his master’s degree in religious education.

The new rabbi has worked at a variety of seminary internships. He served as a clergy member at various congregations, including Temple Emeth in Teaneck, N.J.; the Village Temple in New York City; Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick, N.J.; and most recently Temple B’nai Jeshurun of Short Hills, N.J.

Rabbi Levy joins Associate Cantor Mia Fram Davidson, Assistant Rabbi David E. Levy, Senior Rabbi Jonathan E. Blake, Rabbi Marcus L. Burstein and Senior Cantor Jill Abramson.
