Mignone loaned the center a very large, very special rock specimen that over time, has crumbled and split, exposing and loosening minerals of black tourmaline, mica, salmon feldspar, quartz, a gorgeous beryl named aquamarine and more.
Mignone would like visitors to treat it as if it were a geological puzzle, and try to piece it back together while learning about the properties of rocks and minerals.
This new addition will complement the center's existing collection of rocks and fossils, center officials said.

The center is at 455 Mamaroneck Road.
