Weil is the senior researcher at the Research Institute for Innovation in Education at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The lecture, “The Untold Story of the Jews of India” will explore several top Indian poets and generals that made significant contributions to the country.

The Jews of India can be divided into three major groups: the Bene Israel, the Cochin Jews and the Baghdadi Jews. Each community has unique rites and rituals, but has been influenced by the surrounding Hindu society.

Weil has specialized in research on the Jews of India for more than four decades, including fieldwork with the Bene Israel Indian Jews in Israel. She has published countless articles on the subject and has edited several books. Weil is a founding chair of the Israel-India Cultural Association.

The free lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. on April 30 at the Westchester Reform Temple. There will be a light sampling of food from India at 7 p.m.
