A total of 29 million chests and dressers have been recalled.
Three children are known to have died as result of accidents involving the dressers the last two years, according to philly.com.
Ikea said it would stop selling the dressers immediately. The company's low-cost Malm line, which failed stability testings, has already been removed from its website.
Ikea will offer full refunds to the millions of customers who bought them.
Full details of the recall are expected to be announced on Tuesday by both Ikea and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, according to philly.com.
