“Who are these refugees? Where are they from? What led them here? Where will they go? I have come to hear their stories and learn,” Sarandon wrote on the Huffington Post.
In the article, Sarandon recounts crying with a migrant mother who brought her two children with her. “I take her in my arms and I, too, begin to weep… I can’t imagine what state of desperation could make getting on this overcrowded, rickety boat seem like a good idea,” Sarandon said in the Time article.
Today, Sarandon tweeted an image of herself with a young refugee, saying that we all need to understand that "these people" are just like the rest of us, people who want to be safe.
