No illnesses have been reported, according to officials at Bridgeport, Ill.-based Rucker's Wholesale and Service Co. Packages affected are the 3-ounce clear peg bags with the paper header card UPC 752545073390 and a "best by" date of 031417 and 041817.
The trail mix is distributed nationwide at Bass Pro Shops. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is helping the company spread the word about the recall.
Rucker's officials said they learned of the problem from a supplier that sunflower kernels used in the product were being recalled for potential listeria. Listeria is an organism that can cause illness in healthy people but can be fatal to young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.
If you have the product, you can get a refund or ask questions by calling Rucker's at (618) 945-2411 or (800) 663-1857 or sending email to customerservice@ruckerscandy.com.
