SCARSDALE, N.Y. Author Linda Greenhouse will kick off the Westchester Community College Celebrity Salon Series on Sunday when she discusses the U.S. Supreme Court in a Scarsdale home.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist covered the Supreme Court for 30 years for The New York Times, and has recently written a book, "The U.S. Supreme Court: A Very Short Introduction, according to the college.
In her presentation, Greenhouse will cover the basics: How do cases get to the court? What special role does the chief justice play? What do the law clerks do? How does the court relate to the other branches of government?
The evening will begin at 5 p.m. over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.
The 11-event salon series is presented by the Westchester Community College Foundation. Since 1969, the foundation, a nonprofit organization, has raised funds to meet college and student needs not covered by public funds, the college said.
Sunday's event is the first of three planned for Scarsdale.
