Eco Business Gives Green Light To Education

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – When Eva Finkelstein opened Green Design Expo at 640 Central Park Ave in June, she began more than an eco-centric boutique for environmentally sensitive homeowners. She also established a center for like-minded people to gather, share ideas and become more educated about "going green."

"We're starting a Students of the Month program," Finkelstein said Saturday, "and a TV show."

The TV show, "The Green Scene," is being produced for Greenburgh cable, but Finkelstein said the plan is get it distributed to more systems throughout Westchester County.

"We'll feature local businesses, government leaders and students who are making a difference when it comes to sustainability." Among the guests will be State Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer and Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner, who will discuss the feasibility of going green.

And there's more. Thursday, Oct. 20, Finkelstein will host a Neighbor 2 Neighbor program titled Sustainable Living Made Simple at Green Design Expo. In addition to Finkelstein, the evening will be hosted by Jean Hammerman of Building Performance Institute, a certified home energy professional and president of NeighborGreen: Home Weatherizing Made Easy; and Joanie Dinowitz, a master composter and recycler. Those attending will take home a free home weatherizing consultation and Green Design Expo gifts and coupons. The program runs from 7 to 9 p.m.

Green Design Expo will also hold a networking session, Green Drinks Westchester, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25. Green Drinks Westchester is organized by Lea Cullen Boyer of Green Guru Network and Dani Glaser of Green Team Spirit
